Shannon M. Sutherland (she/her) is a writer, director, and post-production artist based in New York City. Her work explores themes of identity, the human experience, and otherness.
A graduate of the MFA Film Production program at Florida State University, Shannon has gained experience in both above-the-line and below-the-line roles on a variety of projects.
Her latest short film, They Flew Like Blackbirds, was one of five winners of the 4th Annual Focus Features & JetBlue Student Short Film Showcase.
Currently, she is developing a trilogy of short films that explore trauma, dysfunctional family dynamics, and hope in Black girlhood.
